Tbilisi – Capital of Georgia (country)

Capital of Georgia country is located at the south-east part of Georgia, too far from the geographical center, but the location of Tbilisi is exactly at the middle of Caucasus. That's why for centuries Tbilisi was not only capital of Georgia, but it served the function of Caucasus main city for centuries. 

The nature of Tbilisi is diverse. River Mtkvari goes along the whole city. The river separates the capital of Georgia country into 2 parts: right and left riversides. In the right part there are rivers Digmistskali and Vere, which connects to the main River Mtkvari. River Mtkvari is the main artery of capital of Georgia country. The length of river inside the city is 35 meters.

There are 2 lakes in Tbilisi – The Turtle Lake and Lisi Lake.

The 630 meters high mountain Makhata is located at the left riverside of Mtkvari.

Climate in Tbilisi is generally subtropical. The summer is too hot, the average temperature in July is about 25 C.  Winter is cold, the temperature is 0 C. The maximum number of sediments is during spring and minimum during winter period.

During the history the coldest day was in 1983 with minus 22 C and the hottest in1996 with 41 C.

The population in Tbilisi has been changing during the centuries. In the middle centuries when King Tamar was reigning there lived about one hundred thousand people. Different battles during the history have affected the population of Tbilisi dramatically. Because of different reasons the number of population has been changing and now it totals to 1 million 81 thousand people.

Visitors and tourists will have the pleasure of seeing different historical, cultural and architecturally-significant building and monuments, theaters, museums and the exhibitions. Tourists have the chance to taste Georgian wine and understand the culture of wine country

Tbilisi is a political-administrative center of the country. Georgian parliament and many other administrative and social organizations are functioning here.
